Job Description
This position will work within the Options and Opportunities day program supporting individuals in their daily life skills including physical, vocational, recreational, social, and emotional development. Assists participants/clients to connect with the community and to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible. Must be able to perform personal care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
· Community and School Support certificate and recent related experience supporting individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Or a combination of education, training, and experience.
· Class 4 Unrestricted DL and safe driving record (abstract)
· Current CPR-C, MANDT, Safe Food Handling, and Medication Management training are required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with and support individuals with physical and developmental disabilities
· Strong experience providing life skills support and development
· Strong ability to assist individuals with feeding, grooming, and personal care
· Ability to work effectively independently and as a strong member of a team
· Good communication and documentation skills
· Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills
· Ability to take initiative and be proactive
· Knowledge and ability in seizure management
· Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals, co-workers, and supervisors
· Strong ability to recognize, analyze and deal effectively with behaviors and crisis situations using appropriate interventions
· Ability to do physical requirements of the job – supporting individuals in wheelchairs, walkers, etc – lifting, transferring, pushing, pulling, bending
· Strong ability to act professionally, problem solve and make ethical decisions
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hrs/week
Salary: $21.63/Hourly
Minimum Education: Diploma
